2011: 1,177.089 children entered Grade 1
2012: 102,301 had dropped out i.e. 1,047.888 proceeded
2014 to 2015: (G4 to G5) 57,018 dropped out i.e. 990,870 proceeded
2022: (G10 to G11) 36,801 dropped out i.e. 954,069 proceeded
2023: (G11 to G12) 178,439 dropped out (19%) i.e. 775,630 proceeded
of the 775,630 pupils in Matric, 80,1% passed(621,280)
of the 1,177.089 pupils in G1, 53% passed (621,280)

What this means is that 5% of kids didn’t finish school (show counter).

Very few schools have proper real life entr training.
Between gr 1 and gr 12 we have 46% of kids dropping out of school without any entr skills.
They have zero chance of finding jobs. 56% will drop out of university. Even if they pass matric, 50% will find a job.

Leon Lategan

Leon Lategan is the School of Entrepreneurship’s Founder and Head Coach. He has coached, trained and spoken to over +50 000 entrepreneurs, business owners and corporates in South Africa and in 21 cities globally in countries such as Egypt, Qatar, Jordan, Mauritius, Bahrain, Botswana, Namibia, Rwanda and Tanzania.

The School of Entrepreneurship exists to create entrepreneurs because they possess the ability to spur economic growth and improve living standards for all. We aim to develop 10,000 new entrepreneurs in the next 5 years who are capable of starting sustainable and profitable businesses that create jobs and reduce unemployment.
